They’re Always After Me Danish Charms

I’ve never seen Metallica’s rockumentary Some Kind of Monster because I have no interest in watching a douchebag Danish leprechaun and hipster-glasses-wearing redneck scream at each other for two hours. But apparently, actress Connie Nielsen (unfortunately, no know relation to Leslie) was interested enough to be dragged to the screening on her third date with the band’s drummer Lars Ulrich.

Nielsen revealed that on their third date, Ulrich took her to see Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, the candid 2004 documentary about the band’s near-collapse amidst personal problems. Nielsen said, “He took me to see a private screening of it, and after seeing it, I was like ‘Are you crazy, showing me that movie? I don’t even know if I want to go out with you anymore.’ I was a little stunned. But to see that openness and honesty, that was kind of cool.”

What a self-important prick. After the screening, he proceeded to throw magical leprechaun lust dust on Nielsen and offered his pot o’ gold in exchange for love. And whaddya know? Three years later, they’re still together, and she’s knocked up!

Nielsen and Ulrich are expecting their first child together. The actress has a 17-year-old son from a previous relationship, while Ulrich has two young children from his last marriage. Both Ulrich and Nielsen are natives of Denmark.
