In early 2009, the Beastie Boys announced their plans to release their eighth studio album later that year. Sadly, the would-be celebration of their new release was replaced with the diagnosis of and beginnings of treatment for Adam “MCA” Yauch’s throat cancer. Well, Yauch, while not yet totally cancer-free, and the rest of the Beasties are now ready to release the record, entitled Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, on May 3.
The first track to see the light of day is embedded after the cut. While it’s not necessarily new (it’s been available since July of 2009), it features Nas, and it’s a goodie.
I’d like to think that MCA’s recovery-in-progress is simply a result of God’s realization of the injustice of granting so many other turd rappers/rockers enough good health to continue to spew out new material at an alarming rate (see previous post). I’m not wishing them ill or anything, I’m just saying, you know, MCA’s battling cancer…the least God can do is help him beat it or stage an unfortunate throat-ripping encounter between Fred Durst/Lil’ Wayne and the ghost of Patrick Swayze to level the playing field.
