In a strange bit of news out of Hollywood, Lars Ulrich has been cast alongside Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen in the made-for-TV HBO movie Hemingway and Gellhorn.
Ulrich will play Dutch documentarian Joris Ivens in the TV movie, which chronicles the stormy marriage between Ernest Hemingway and war correspondent Martha Gellhorn; David Strathairn, Parker Posey, and Tony Shalhoub have been added to the cast as well.
I’ve visited Hemingway’s home in Key West, and it was crawling with six-toed cats…an eccentric indulgence of Hemingway’s. He clearly had a penchant for surrounding himself with bitchy furballs with abnormal growth traits. So the casting of Ulrich as his filmmaker friend actually makes perfect sense. You win this round, Ulrich (*clenches fist, slowly squints*). Chalk another one up to the magically retarded powers of the Danish leprechaun, I suppose.
